2009 Silver Division Championship Series

The first ever MRHA Silver Division Championship would be handed out to the winner of a best of five series between the Penguins, a team of individual registrants, and No Regretzkys, a team who for the most part were experiencing roller hockey for the first time. No Regretzkys started the series right by winning the first two games, 7-5 and 8-7 thanks to solid play between the pipes by Jaspreet Dhillon and solid games from team top scorer Mark Wedgewood. The Penguins were determined not to be swept as they had won the regular season series 2-1, outscoring No Regretzkys 29-20. In game three the Penguins came out firing and took it to No Regretzkys all game long, they were rewarded with a 9-7 win and the opportunity to try and force a fifth and deciding game. Due to outstanding circumstances, the Penguins were forced to put a player in net for game four. Howie Watson strapped on the pads and seemed to be exactly what the Penguins needed to edge the hungry No Regretzkys squad. Unfortunately for the Penguins, the bounces just were not going their way and they lost a close 9-7 game that went back and forth from beginning to end. Hats off to both teams for an amazing season where each and every player showed heart, sportsmanship and class every time they stepped on the floor.
