MRHA Inaugural Season

Our first season is almost at the half way point and things are going great! With 14 teams competing in the adult division there have been some very tight games and some beauty goals!

At this point the IHO Grizzlies are looking very strong as they take their undefeated record into Wednesday May 20th's game against the Hornets who are also looking like one of the teams to beat. The Road Dawgs have also been playing some good hockey as they are starting to turn their season around and are currently on a two game win streak. The Brokeback Mountaineers look like another tough team to beat, they are riding the solid goaltending of Kevin Rawley and his new pads, they are on a four game winning streak after pulling off a close 7-6 win against the Phantoms.

No Regretzkys are still looking for their first win but have been improving with every game, that first win doesn't seem to be too far away. The Penguins have been benefiting from the late addition of Brodie Stevens who has seemed to add the secondary scoring that the team needed to get over the hump as the Penguins ended a four game losing streak with an impressive 13-5 win over No Regretzkys on Tuesday May 19th. The NS Flames have had a few tough losses recently but have been in every game they've played in, look out for them come playoffs as they play very well as a team and have terrific goaltending. Despite usually having a short bench, the Chiefs (5-1) have a very respectable record and always prove to be a tough game for who ever they face.

Richview has suffered some tight losses but they never seem to quit even though they could use an extra sub or two at some games. The Euro Inferno have turned their season around recently riding a three game win streak after beginning the season 0-2, solid performances by their goalie Dave made this streak possible, let's not forget team rep, Tyler Giancoulas' first goal of the season which propelled the Inferno to their third straight win. The Phantoms have had a modest start to the season with a 2-2 record at this point, look for sniper Tom Kalinowski in the highlight reels as he is due to explode on the offensive side of the rink.

Andrew Valenzano and the NCL Purple Cobras have played in six close games so far and have a 3-3 record, this team plays hard to the very end of every game and have been a handful for all of their opponents. The Donkey Punchers have been having a similar season to the Purple Cobras, they have a record of 2-3 but have lost some very tight games and have never been out of a game. Finally, the Rattlers. This team has lost two of their last three games, one of which to the Hornets 2-1 on a late goal, the other in a shootout to the Grizzlies.

Things are getting very exciting at the rink and the games have been getting progressively better as teams and players are making the adjustment to the roller game and slowly moving away from ice hockey tendencies. Look out for some great roller hockey as we get closer and closer to the playoffs!
